Suppose you got a free domain at blogger named “your_blog.your_host_domain.com”. And you buy a domain named “your_given_name.com”. It is easy to understand that your_given_name.com looks more professional than  your_blog.your_host_domain.com. Again you are not allowed to do whatever you like on a free domain. But you can do whatever you like with your own domain (without breaking the tos of your host). For your domain to make money online you can use both types of website. But for accessing your website completely you should have bought a domain. So if you have no monetary problem you should buy a domain and use it to make money online.
